Your website is worth visiting when it offers evidence people can inspect, advice that helps them judge their options, and a clear way to act. That is where a useful AI search content strategy begins.
If a page mostly repeats information customers can get from an AI summary, ask what they would gain by opening it. The answer should shape how you optimize content for AI search.
In Search Off the Record episode 109, How Search Is Changing, Google’s Martin Splitt and Nikola Todorovic discuss how search behavior is evolving and why businesses still need to contribute something useful. Their conversation points to a practical question for every important page: what can your business add that an AI system or another website cannot simply reproduce from common information?
Todorovic says queries are becoming longer and more detailed as people discover they can ask more complex questions.
For example, a family might ask which rental car in Dubai can accommodate two child seats and luggage for a week. Those details reveal far more about customer search intent than “car rental Dubai” alone.
Google may use query fan-out: additional related searches that help it gather information for the original request. Which searches it runs depends on the question. AI Overviews summarise information from search results, while AI Mode supports longer conversations with follow-up questions.
Build content around the practical concerns behind those requests, including details customers may struggle to name. Start with the questions your sales and support teams already hear, then connect them to customer search intent.
Google’s AI search features use its search index and core ranking systems to retrieve relevant pages. Google’s current guidance says a page must be indexed and eligible to appear with a snippet. The site must also be included in Search generative AI features.
Meeting those requirements does not guarantee selection.
This makes technical foundations for AI search part of the content strategy. If important information cannot be accessed or indexed, improving the wording won’t solve the problem.
Splitt describes technology reviews that dress up manufacturer specifications without explaining what a product is actually like to use. Readers can find those specifications on the box. Firsthand experience can explain who a product suits and where it falls short.
Take the rental example. Calling a car “spacious” leaves the family to guess. The company could show the exact model with two child seats installed and a realistic amount of luggage in the boot. It could state the configuration tested, explain any limitations, place the rental terms beside that evidence, and provide live availability.
AI may summarise the demonstration. The value still comes from what the business can substantiate. An AI answer can introduce the evidence; the website lets the customer inspect it, compare options, and act.
At WeTakTik, we apply a simple decision test before recommending more content: Will this page help a customer make a better decision, can the important claims be verified, and is the next step clear? Start with one commercially important page and work through four checks.
Ask sales or support which questions customers raise before buying. Identify the concern behind each one, then decide which concerns belong on this page. If customers still need to call to understand basic suitability, begin there.
Find one statement a customer currently has to take on trust. Add a demonstration, a comparison your team has actually tested, or an explanation of a relevant limitation. State what you checked, under which conditions, and where the finding applies.
Put the direct answer near the relevant heading, then explain what supports it. Replace vague adjectives with specific details. Use photographs or video when they clarify the decision, with captions and text that explain the important points.
A customer assessing suitability may need to compare options or ask a question. Someone ready to buy may need availability and clear terms. Keep the appropriate action and the information needed to take it close together.
AI can help organize research or edit a draft, but a subject specialist should verify the evidence and claims before publication. Google’s guidance on AI-assisted content emphasizes accuracy, quality, and relevance. For a broader review, WeTakTik’s AI content optimization examines whether pages give people and AI systems clear, reliable information.
An appearance in an AI answer, a website visit, and a qualified inquiry are different outcomes. Measure each separately.
Google’s current Generative AI performance report in Search Console shows impressions for AI Overviews and AI Mode. It reports how often links to your site appear, but it doesn’t show revenue or explain the full customer journey.
Create a fixed set of commercially relevant questions and test them regularly. Record the platform, date, country, and language each time. Note whether WeTakTik or the client appears, how accurately the answer represents the business, and which sources receive links. Treat these checks as directional observations because AI answers can vary.
Then connect identifiable website visits with useful actions in analytics and your CRM. For the rental page, monitor availability checks and whether inquiries match the vehicles offered. Record the publication date and later changes so you can compare periods without assigning every improvement to one edit.
If you are unsure where to begin, WeTakTik’s AI visibility audit can assess how your business appears in AI search and where your website needs attention.
